CNC Machining DFM Standards

We work with 4140 alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum for various industrial custom parts.
• Minimum wall thickness: 0.8mm for aluminum, 1.2mm for steel. We will recommend reinforcing ribs for overly thin structures.Hole Cavity Design
• Standard CNC Drilling The minimum diameter for conventional mechanical drilling is Ø1.0mm. This standard prevents tool breakage and ensures stable machining. The recommended depth-to-diameter ratio of standard holes is limited within 10:1.
• EDM Electrical Discharge Drilling (Our Core Advanced Advantage) Different from conventional mechanical drilling, our EDM perforation technology completely breaks the limitations of standard drilling processes. Our unique EDM drilling strengths:
1. Produce ultra-fine micro holes, diameter ranging from Ø0.05mm to Ø1.0mm
2. Achieve ultra-deep holes with extremely high depth-to-diameter ratio, far beyond the reach of common drill bits
3. Easily process hardened steel, 4140 alloy steel and all other high-hardness hard-to-machine metals
4. Zero burrs, zero workpiece deformation, no internal mechanical stress, even suitable for thin-wall fragile parts
5. Capable of machining angled holes, side holes and holes in confined, inaccessible positions that standard drills cannot reach
Any difficult hole processing challenges that traditional CNC cannot complete, our EDM drilling solution provides stable, high-precision results.
• All internal corners require a minimum radius of R0.5. Sharp dead corners are not feasible for conventional machining.
• Standard tolerance: ±0.05mm. Precision tolerance of ±0.02mm is available upon request. We will advise relaxing unnecessary tight tolerances to control your cost. • For 4140 steel parts requiring heat treatment, please mark the requirement clearly on drawings. We will reserve adequate machining allowance in advance.

Sheet Metal & Bending Standards

These rules apply to brackets, frames and outdoor structural components

• The minimum inner bend radius equals the material thickness. The minimum bend height shall be no less than 4 times the material thickness.
• Keep the distance between holes, slots and bend lines over 2 times the material thickness to avoid post-bending deformation.
• The minimum width of slots is 1.2 times the material thickness.
• We will conduct automatic spring back compensation for all bent parts. Please mark the target angle clearly on your drawings.

Surface Finishes Key Tips
• Dacromet Coating: Perfect for outdoor parts with high anti-corrosion demands. We will reserve extra material allowance before coating.
• Anodizing Sandblasting: Mainly used for aluminum parts. Please specify masking areas if partial treatment is needed.
• Electroplating and spray painting will slightly round sharp edges. We will make corresponding adjustments during production.
